A Good Man

Before i mentioned that being a Christian is a way of life. It is more than just believing, or saying, it is doing. Such as, the two greatest commandments are to love God and to love our neighbors as much as ourselves. That means all our neighbors. We can easily see that this is a full time job. We never stop loving God, or our neighbors. Our love for God goes on forever. It’s not like a one-time thing where we are saved, such as someone might say they were baptized back in 1972 and so they no longer need to worry about being saved. Being baptized in water has nothing to do with being saved. Only through baptism of the Holy Spirit are we saved. Baptism by water is worthless. Keeping God’s commandments is how we are saved, loving God and one another. So we can see that being a Christian is a full time job. It affects how we do everything, and it affects what we do. There is no such thing as “taking time off from being righteous”. Being a good, honest man is an everyday job that never takes a day off.

Now i know what Jesus meant when He said that we must be born again, to enter Heaven. We must begin a new life. We leave our old life of sin behind, and we begin a totally new life, where we consciously keep ourselves free from sin and maintain God’s commandments at all times.

St. John Chapter 3

3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I
say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he
cannot see the kingdom of God.

We begin a new life of a being a good Samaritan and we live it every day. By helping others, we also help ourselves. Because whatever we do to others, that is what we do to ourselves.
