A Different Light

Before i mentioned that God did not create man to destroy man. If God wanted to destroy man, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

I began to think of God in a different light, a different perspective, knowing that He only came here to save us, not destroy us. Some people have painted God in a bad light, and we ourselves have our own misconceptions about God and Scriptures. I began to think about Eve, in the Garden of Eden. From reading GEnesis, i have often interpreted what happened to Adam and Eve was that they were told not to do something, they disobeyed God, their Parents, and then God got so angry He punished them very extremely severely. It seems that God was very harsh on Adam and Eve. Or so that is how i have interpreted the Scripture.

Now i begin to see things differently. Because, when Adam and Eve both disobeyed God, God could have easily just have forgiven them for being disobedient. Why did He not? Then i begin to understand, God did forgive them. However, the reason God commanded them not to eat of the Tree of Knowledge was because God knew beforehand what would happen to them. God didn’t just fly off the handle and punish them severely. God knew beforehand that these things would happen to them if they disobeyed God and ate the fruit of the Knowledge tree. That’s why God told them not to do it! He was trying to protect them! God told them beforehand, if you eat it, you will die!

Genesis Chapter 2

17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not
eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

But here in Chapter 3 we have the first example of lying in the Bible. The first lie being told.

Genesis Chapter 3

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God
hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

And so Adam and Eve were deceived, they disobeyed God, and just as God had told them, beforehand, they were surely going to die. This wasn’t because God flipped out and punished them severely. God knew this would happen beforehand, and He wanted to prevent it from happening to His children! But they disobeyed. They didn’t listen and they didn’t obey.

22 ¶ And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of
us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and
take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden,
to till the ground from whence he was taken.

Once Adam and Eve had Knowledge of Evil they could no longer live in Paradise. They were unfit to be allowed into Heaven. They had to be cast out. And also, since they were found to be disobedient, they had to be cast out. God had no choice but to cast them out. But He had told them beforehand, He tried to prevent it from happening!

Now we can see this is the exact same thing happening to us today. God is telling us if we don’t stop sinning and have our sins forgiven, we will be cast into hell, forever! God is telling us beforehand. God wants to avoid people from going into hell. God is trying to save us from hell, not throw us in there. We cause our ownselves to be cast into hell. If God wanted us dead, we would all be dead.

I thought about the serpent being so subtil. I wondered if Eve even knew it was the serpent who gave her the bad idea to disobey God. Eve did know it was the serpent, because she told God the serpent beguiled her into eating it. I begin to understand that it’s kind of like being a little kid and being told not to run into the street. The disobedient kid runs into the street and gets hit by a car, and he thinks he is being punished, but in reality, it is the natural consequences of him running into the street. It is why they told him not to run into the street. It is the direct result of him being disobedient. It’s not some great punishment. It’s what happens to you if you do it, and that’s why they told you not to do it.

And so it is at the End of time. God did not come here to punish us. God came here to save us from punishing ourselves. So that we can live foreve instead. We can see that God is not all angry and violent and mean. God is trying to save us, not destroy us. He told us beforehand how to avoid being punished. Those people who do not follow God’s directions on how to be saved will surely die.
