The Second Death

When we read Genesis, we learn the basic theme of the entire Bible, and the story of man’s condition. God created Paradise, and then God created man, and put man into Paradise. Then man sinned, and lost Paradise. That same theme is True today, for everyone. God created Paradise for us, and GAVE it to us, and we lose it through disobedience. That’s the same way we lose Paradise in Heaven. Disobedience.

GEnesis Chapter 3

6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that
it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise,
she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her
husband with her; and he did eat.

A common misconception is that Eve somehow deceived Adam into eating the forbidden fruit. As we read Scripture, Eve did not deceive Adam. He was right there, the whole time with Eve. It was the serpent who deceived them both. It does not say anywhere that Eve deceived Adam.

12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me,
she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

Adam tried to blame his own disobedience on Eve! He knew it was forbidden, yet he still ate it! The moral of this story is that we cannot sin, and then blame it on someone else and get away with sinning. “They told me it was OK” will not get you out of hell. It doesn’t matter if Eve said it was OK to eat. God said it was NOT OK. In vain they keep the traditions of men, and disobey God’s commandments. And here we have the first example of man failing. Why? Because he obeyed the commandments of men, instead of God’s commandments.

Now, who are these people? Who are these people who call themselves Christians, and yet do not keep Gods commandments? We know these messages are for the churches, for the church members to keep God’s commandments. But those who don’t keep God’s commandments, who are they? They are the nonbelievers. The unbelievers. They read God’s Word, and they read His instructions, but they don’t believe God’s Word is True. They read God said Thou shalt not murder, but they don’t believe it. God said Thou shalt have no other gods before me, but they don’t believe God’s Word, and they put idols in their homes. They read God’s commandment not to eat flesh, and they try to change it around so that it means it’s ok to eat flesh, which it’s not. And then they eat flesh. Why? Because they are disobedient. Why? Because they are non-believers. And they end up in the Lake of Fire. Why? Because they disobey God’s commandments. The theme of Revelation is the same as the theme in Genesis. It’s a story about Paradise Found, and Paradise Lost, through disobedience.

Revelation Chapter 21

7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God,
and he shall be my son.
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and
murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all
liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and
brimstone: which is the second death.
