Matthew Chapter 6

9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in
heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For
thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will
also forgive you:
15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father
forgive your trespasses.

I think one of the hard things that we humans have to do sometimes is learn to forgive and forget. I think forgive and forget go hand in hand, because it’s very difficult to forigve if you cannot forget. If we think everyday how someone wronged us, well, it would be hard to forgive them. So we also need to forget. Else wise, we may not forget or forgive, and then we ourselves won’t be forgiven of our trespasses. Also, if we harbor angry thoughts and evil thoughts, these are the very things that defileth a man. So failing to forgive can also lead to evil thoughts, and i think it can also be considered the same thing as “judging” a person. For if we cannot forgive a person, we essentially are judging them to be unforgiveable, or something to that effect. Then we fall into an even greater trap, wherein we have already not forgiven, now we are judging, and we are also consumed with evil thoughts, which defiles us.

Matthew Chapter 7

JUDGE not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with
what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

So it is very important to forgive and forget, inasmuch as possible. If we harbor evil thoughts and angry feelings, these thoughts and feelings may become the “abundance of the heart”.

Matthew Chapter 12

34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good
things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth
good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth
evil things.
36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak,
they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou
shalt be condemned.

Jesus tells us that evil thoughts defileth a man. And so we want to avoid evil thoughts as much as possible. A good way to do that is to be quick to forgive.

Matthew Chapter 15

10 ¶ And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and
understand:
11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that
which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth
goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from
the heart; and they defile the man.
19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries,
fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen
hands defileth not a man.

Of course Jesus also tells us that other things also defileth a man – things such as fornications, adulteries, lying and being unholy.

Fortunately Jesus taught us all these things. Jesus showed us the way to Heaven. Jesus is the Way. There is no other way. Jesus said that few will find the Way, but fortunately, we did find it. It is in the New Testament. It is Jesus’ teachings, and Jesus’ Words that teach us the Way to Heaven.

I thought about that and i find it extremely interesting, being able to read Jesus’ Words, and the things that God said when He came here on Earth. To me it seems the most incredible, amazing thing that we have here on Earth, is the written record of the exact words that God spoke when He was here on Earth. Before, i didn’t know that. But now that i know that Jesus is God, now i know that we have recorded the actual words that God spoke to us directly. These are the most important words in the whole entire world – these Words of God. And how amazing is it, that we actually have them written down where we can read them and learn all about God and learn all the things that God wants us to know?

Having the Word of God here on Earth, it is no small thing. It is a miracle unto itself.
