Luke Chapter 9

18 ¶ And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were
with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I
19 They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and
others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again.

Before, like last year, i think it was, i was wondering who i most likely resemble. Now i believe i am more like John the Baptist. Actually i realized i have quite a few similarities with John the Baptist. John brought the message to “make straight the way of the Lord”, because John was announcing Jesus’ arrival. That is the same message that i was also preaching! I basically preach the same Scriptures that John the Baptist taught. Those are, that Jesus is coming soon, that we need to get baptized and get ready. And i also have the same teachings about the HOly Spirit that John the Baptist taught.

John went out into the wilderness where he baptized people in the river. I also went camping out. And many people flocked for miles around to come see John the Baptist, and the same thing happened to me! Now isn’t that funny!

John the Baptist also did not eat meat. It is written that locusts and honey were his food. So i share a few similarities with John the Baptist. The most important message is that Jesus is coming soon, and we need to get ready. Many people did not like John the Baptist’s message in those days, and they conspired to kill him. They eventually did kill him, but it did not affect John’s message. He told many people the message and baptized many, and they also flocked for miles around to see him. He already delivered the Message. He already accomplished his mission by the time they killed him. And even though they killed him, it did not affect the fact the Jesus is still coming! Jesus still showed up, just exactly as John the Baptist told everyone, beforehand. The same as it is today. Because even though they kill the messengers and the prophets, it still cannot change God’s word from being True. It is impossible for God’s word to be untrue. Jesus is going to return soon and no one can stop that from happening.

Now i believe it is very possibly true, and most likely true that many, many people have been inspired by the ‘spirit of John the Baptist’. Not just me. I have read a few blogs where i believe people have also been moved by the Spirit, and they have written down what they were moved by. A good example is a blog by a guy who says that he feels he has the ‘spirit of John the Baptist’, which i believe means he has the same message that John had – make straight the way of the LOrd, because He is coming soon. However, in the case of this blogger, i think he could not handle the pressure. Certainly as Christians we are under constant spiritual attack. And in the case of a Christian who has good teachings and is reaching a lot of people, they are going to be under even more attack. Because Satan realizes how many people that one person alone can affect. Especially in this day and age. So that is why i pray my daily prayer every day, that Satan be removed from all parts of me – my body, my thoughts and my feelings. Because even though i may be moved by the Spirit, i am also under spiritual attack by Satan, at the same time. So it requires prayer and strength from God to overcome. Otherwise, an otherwise brilliant voice for Jesus could be silenced, simply by having DOUBT.

So being a faithful and loyal servant to God, and being a messenger such as John the Baptist requires a certain amount of faith, oh ye of little faith, physical toughness, mental toughness and certainly great spiritual strength that we can only receive from God. I think being a person with a difficult assignment like John the Baptist, that is teaching and baptizing thousands, alone, by himself, against thousands who did not like him, well, i think it also requires a certain amount of ‘craziness’ as well. Most people won’t understand what that means. But i do.

So if you ever feel like you are being moved by the Spirit to do something, or write something, or whatever, well then you probably are.

Mark Chapter 16

AND when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the
mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they
might come and anoint him.
2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came
unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.
3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone
from the door of the sepulchre?
4 And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away:
for it was very great.
5 And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on
the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were
6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of
Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the
place where they laid him.
7 But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before
you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.
8 And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre; for they
trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man;
for they were afraid.
9 ¶ Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he
appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven
10 And she went and told them that had been with him, as they
mourned and wept.
11 And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been
seen of her, believed not.
12 ¶ After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they
walked, and went into the country.
13 And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they
14 ¶ Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and
upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because
they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the
gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that
believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall
they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it
shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall
19 ¶ So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received
up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working
with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
